Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the last table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest players around the world. While participating in online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen participating in web poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
