Annie Duke might not have captured her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but she is still one of the most feared poker competitors around the ring games at The Bellagio in Vegas. Annie’s long-awaited WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While competitors from the "younger generation" of poker run amok after a huge success at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mum" to her 4 children. She was born in New Hampshire and grew up in a family of card players. If you do not believe that, watch her sibling, Howard Lederer, in action, Howard taught her the correct way to play poker.
However, Annie Duke is no small change girl and has won her share of challenging matches, which includes eliminating Howard a few times on several occasions.
Winning well over $3 million in tournament action, Annie branched out to become a advisor to both UltimateBet.com and actor Ben Affleck, who wished to hone his abilities to become a big player at the poker table.
You might just catch Annie at the Bellagio, you will see her on television and you might even compete with her in an online poker match, but do not count on a simple win. Unless you’re a champion-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. although, it is likely to be fun to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
