Texas Holdem Poker Masters

Stu is considered by many to the finest No Limit Texas holdem Poker gambler ever.

The three time World Poker Champion was born in New York in ‘53 and began wagering poker before reaching his teens.

The young gambler started out wagering gin and at the age of 10 had won his 1st gin tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the time he turned fourteen the small poker genius had turned professional and stopped going to school.

In 1954 Stu Ungar entered the record books by succeeding $10,000 in a gin rummy tournament without dropping a single hand, a record which still appears in New York these days.

The fast speaking wiz kid has been compared, in poker terms, to athletic greats such as Joe Namath and Kobe Bryant. Stu had a true talent for playing poker but despite his successes in Texas holdem poker, he favored betting gin.

Stu once said that there might some day be a improved NL Holdem gambler than him but he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a improved gin gambler.

In ‘80 Stu Ungar was put on the global map as one of the greatest Texas hold’em Poker players in the earth when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the very first time. Amazingly it was the 1st time he had played in the tournament.

The following year he dismissed any thoughts that it had been a fluke, by successfully defending his title. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by succeeding his 3rd World poker championship.

But this poker legend also struggled with substance abuse and a year right after winning his third title Stu past away in his hotel room. According to physicians, he had passed away from a cardiac event which was caused by his lifestyle.

Stu Ungar had began with practically nothing but his ability and expertise for the game which made this poker wonderful a millionaire several times over.
