Distracting Players

Do you ever receive that itch? The itch to bet, to head to the nearest gambling establishment, to locate a high stakes game of Texas hold em, to sit at a Black jack table for hours on end. I really like that itch. And I really like to scratch it.

I also love to watch individuals gamble. No two poker faces seem the same. When I bet I like to feel I put on a poker face that’s impenetrable. But I know I’ve certain gestures. For one, the only time I smoke is when I play poker or Black jack. And then I smoke. But I chain smoke whether I am winning or losing, whether I have a beneficial hand or bad.

I once wagered in the weekly poker game. The casino game was constantly five card draw. There was a man who bet with us just about every week who constantly wore a hat. When he was given a good hand, subconsciously, he would start touching and betting with his hat. Pointless to say, he never won.

The very best poker gambler I ever saw was a person who made additional actions and signals at a poker table than anyone I had ever met. He was impressive in the way he dressed. Generally an high priced suit and tie, boots shined and nails trimmed. He was meticulous in this manner. And he was constantly brushing his pants or holding his hands or putting his chips in neat little piles.

I use to study him for long periods of time. I’d tried to see if I could spot his tell. Choosing fuzz off his shirt- did this imply he was bluffing? Stacking his chips within a short pile – did this imply he had a excellent hand?

Several years later I bumped into him in a bar in Chicago and we had a beverage. I asked him if he were aware of all those activities he manufactured or if they had been unconscious. He told me that every little thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everyone is always checking out everybody else’s poker face. They are trying to notice the the tell.

So his system was to provide them lots to consider about. His reasoning was if they have been pondering about him picking a piece of lint off his jacket and what it meant they positive weren’t thinking about their cards.

His system was distraction. And it worked for him. By no means give up a method that works for you.
