No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
