Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the closing game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world might be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
