No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
