Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve closing table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers anywhere in the world. While competing in web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I think tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world could be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
