Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve final table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While wagering on web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world could be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in cash games?
