NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from others kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
