No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
